They Are Driving!!!

Okay...not technically...and one just goes around in circles, but they are getting the hang of it...may have them mow the lawn in another year if they get enough practice and can go in a straight line.

So on our little farm we don't have garbage service. We and our neighbors have to drive down to the end of the block and use a huge dumpster set up. This was fine when Raul used his truck for work and would drop the garbage in the morning before going to work, well now we fill up the trailer through the week and take it down with the tractor to get rid of the trash. Last weekend, Raul took Joshua out to handle the trash duty. He drove down and back.

Family Day - Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary

Yesterday we did a Family Day, something we've been trying to incorporate this into our months of doing something as a family at least once a month. I'd love to do something every single weekend, but doing something once a month at this point is the best option and gives the boys, especially Joshua, something to look forward to each month. We plan to try and do something new as well.

Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary
This is definitely not your typical zoo of Lions, Tigers, Zebras, Giraffes, etc. It did have Lions, Tigers and Bears, but mostly had goats and sheep, and some monkeys. It is more of a rescue or sanctuary for animals that have been bought to be pets, but aren't taken care of or not allowed to be had as pets.
The boys loved it and it we will be going back another day.

Homemade Fried Chicken

We did fried chicken on the fire pit in a disc Raul had made. Let's just say, I don't think we will ever do Golden Chick, Chicken Express, or KFC again. I usually eat about 2-3 pieces of chicken plus all of the sides at those places. So making it at home was WOW!!! I barely managed two drumsticks and some onions before I was completely stuffed. Like, unbutton the pants stuffed. I told Raul I would probably never do grilled chicken again after trying the chicken this way. It was delicious.

Mommy Needs Wine

I have recently started drinking wine a lot more than one glass a month. I bought this glass from MommyJuice Wines, who are having a special sale for anyone deserving, for $25.00 you can send someone you love or buy it for yourself a wine glass (not the one below) and a bottle of their red and white wines in a gift set
A couple weekends ago, my mom was in Sacramento, CA and she came across this wine glass. I got it in the mail today. THANK YOU, MOM. It is so cute. I didn't even realize it said something on the back of the glass.

My mom sent me a picture of the wine glass and I showed it to Raul and I had to read it to him. Joshua decided he had to repeat what I said and it just sounded so perfect coming from my little toddlers mouth.

Joshua Feeds The Chickens

Every night we go outside for a bit once it has cooled down so that Joshua can feed the chickens some bread. They are so used to us coming out to feed them that every time we go outside they come running from all directions thinking they are going to get some bread. Silly chickens. I love to watch Joshua feed them because he is just so tickled that they eat the food.

Barrels

We have some barrels for collecting cans (which we take down to have recycled), garbage, water, and compost. This was one of the compost barrels that Joshua wanted to move for us. He is such a huge helper.

Feeding the Chickens

Joshua is learning how to feed the chickens. He doesn't quite get that the food should be sprinkled on the floor, not thrown AT the chickens. Our rooster crows at 6:30am and minutes after that Joshua is up crowing just like him. It's adorable. Yesterday I got him to cluck like a chicken.
